Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is a mental health trust based in London, England. The trust provides services to people from the City of London and Camden, as well as parts of Barnet, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington. It was established in April 2006 following the merger of Camden & Islington Mental Health & Social Care Trust and North East London Mental Health Trust. The trust is one of the largest provider of mental health services in England. It offers a range of specialist community-based services for people with mental health needs including: inpatient care; crisis resolution teams; day hospital services; home treatment teams; residential rehabilitation units; forensic mental health services; acute mental health wards; dementia care units and early intervention teams. The trust also provides primary care psychological therapies, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and alcohol/drug misuse services. The trust's mission is to ensure that all its service users receive quality care that meets their individual needs and fulfils their right to choice and control over their own lives. To this end, it works closely with local authorities, voluntary organisations and other stakeholders to develop accessible, community-based services that are tailored to meet the needs of its diverse population. The trust is committed to providing high quality care which is patient-centred, evidence-based and cost effective. In addition to its clinical work, the trust also strives to provide an environment where staff can develop professionally through training programmes such as educational seminars, clinical supervision and mentoring schemes. It aims to encourage innovation by fostering an open culture which encourages creativity and risk taking whilst ensuring safety at all times. Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust has been recognised for its excellence in clinical practice by receiving numerous awards over the years including best performing trusts for patient satisfaction with overall care (2020). In 2019 it was named UK’s most improved organisation in terms of patient experience by Health Service Journal Awards while at 2018 CQC rated it ‘outstanding’ for leadership across all areas assessed - the first Mental Health Trust to receive such recognition.
