The East Midlands Strategic Health Authority (EMSHA) is a health authority in England. It is responsible for the overall strategic management of healthcare services within the East Midlands region. The region covers Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.

The East Midlands SHA was established on 1 April 2013 as part of the reorganisation of the National Health Service (NHS) in England and Wales. It is one of ten SHAs across the country that are responsible for making sure that local health services meet the needs of the population they serve. The SHA works closely with all NHS organisations in the area to ensure quality, safety and effectiveness in healthcare delivery.

The SHA sets priorities for healthcare across the region, monitors performance and provides strategic direction to local NHS organisations. This includes making sure that healthcare services are provided effectively and efficiently, promoting better health outcomes for local people, tackling inequalities in health outcomes and providing support for local providers.

The East Midlands SHA works closely with local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Local Authorities, Public Health England and other stakeholders to plan services, deliver improvements and monitor performance. The SHA also works with universities and other partners to drive forward innovation and research in healthcare delivery.

The East Midlands Strategic Health Authority has a strong focus on improving access to healthcare services, reducing waiting times, tackling health inequalities and improving patient care. The SHA works closely with GPs and other professionals across the region to ensure that everyone can access high quality care when they need it.
