Tameside and Glossop PCT (Primary Care Trust) is a health care organisation responsible for providing primary care services to the residents of Tameside and Glossop, in Greater Manchester, England. The trust was established in April 2002 as part of the National Health Service reforms. It is one of several PCTs in Greater Manchester, and provides healthcare services to around 220,000 people. The trust's mission is to provide high quality health care that meets the needs of local people. It aims to do this by working with its partners across the region, including local authorities, NHS trusts and voluntary organisations. Its vision is for a healthier Tameside and Glossop where everyone can access good quality health services when they need them. The trust provides a range of primary care services such as GP surgeries, community nursing teams, mental health teams and district nurses. It also has responsibility for commissioning specialist hospital services from providers such as Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. In addition it commissions other healthcare services such as dental care, optometry and pharmacy services from independent providers within its area. The trust works closely with local authorities on public health initiatives such as smoking cessation programmes, sexual health promotion campaigns and healthy eating initiatives. It also supports local GPs in delivering enhanced primary care through schemes such as extended hours surgeries which are designed to improve access to primary care for patients who may otherwise find it difficult or inconvenient to attend their GP during normal opening hours. Tameside & Glossop PCT is committed to improving patient experience by listening to feedback from patients about their experiences with healthcare professionals within its area of responsibility. This includes carrying out regular surveys which allow patients an opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences so that improvements can be made where necessary
