The Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) is an NHS foundation trust that provides mental health and community services in the East of England. It was established in April 2012, following the merger of the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and the Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. The trust serves a population of 1.5 million people across Norfolk, Suffolk, North Essex and Cambridgeshire.

The trust provides a range of services including specialist mental health care for adults, children and young people; learning disability services; physical health services; community health services; substance misuse services; sexual health services; forensic mental health services; and primary care mental health support. It also has an integrated care pathway for older people with complex needs.

The trust is committed to providing high quality care that meets the needs of its patients, service users and their families. It works closely with local authorities, voluntary organisations, charities and other healthcare providers to ensure that its patients receive the best possible care in a timely manner. The trust also strives to promote public understanding about mental health issues through its public engagement activities such as talks, workshops and exhibitions.

The NSFT has been recognised for its commitment to quality improvement by winning several awards including an HSJ Award for Mental Health Provider of the Year in 2017-18, a Quality Improvement Award from The King’s Fund in 2018-19, an HSJ Award for Patient Safety Improvement Project of the Year in 2019-20, and a National Quality Improvement Award from NHS England in 2020-21.

In addition to providing clinical care, NSFT also works hard to ensure that its staff are supported through initiatives such as training programmes on topics such as communication skills development or emotional resilience building as well as offering flexible working arrangements where possible.
