About Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel
The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel sits in the Great Langdale Valley in the Lake District. It is an iconic hotel and pub, and hikers have been arriving here for hundreds of years, some after 10 or 20 miles on foot.
You can walk straight from our door onto the fells, so you can leave the car behind. You can also reach us by train and bus.
When you get back from your walk, there's a week stocked bar, good food and a comfortable bed.
Don't want to walk? We have a very comfortable lounge you can sit and read, admire the stunning views, watch the real fire. Get the bus to Ambleside - the bus runs hourly and it's probably one of the most scenic bus rides in the country.
We have 13 rooms, and dogs are welcome.
