Schmidt's history began in 1934 when Hubert Schmidt started a family business making kitchen dressers, with the company formally founded in 1959 in the Alsace region of France. Schmidt-built kitchens first appeared in the UK in 1986, and the first own-brand Schmidt showrooms opened in the UK in 2012. The brand remains family-owned, led by CEO Anne Leitzgen.
