North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) is a National Health Service (NHS) trust based in the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest. It provides mental health, community and learning disability services to a population of 1.5 million people across North East London. The trust was established in April 2004 as part of the government's modernisation agenda for the NHS. It was formed from three existing trusts: North East London Mental Health Trust, Barking, Havering and Redbridge Community Healthcare Trust and Waltham Forest Community Health Services Trust. The trust has since grown to become one of the largest providers of mental health services in England with over 5,000 staff providing care to more than 200,000 people each year. NELFT provides a range of services including community mental health teams; crisis resolution teams; specialist teams for older adults; children’s mental health services; learning disability services; physical healthcare; substance misuse services; sexual health clinics and psychological therapies.
