Hillingdon Primary Care Trust (PCT) was established in April 2006 and is responsible for the provision of NHS services for residents living within the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is a member of NHS London, which supports PCTs across London to commission and provide high quality health care services.

The PCT provides a range of primary health care services that include general practice, community nursing, sexual health, mental health, and public health services as well as other forms of specialist care such as district nursing and midwifery. The trust has also developed several strategies to ensure that its healthcare delivery meets the needs of local people including: tackling teenage pregnancy; improving access to GPs; making sure all children are immunised; providing better outcomes in end-of-life care; developing more accessible mental health services; establishing closer working relationships with social care providers.

As part of its commitment to providing high quality healthcare service in Hillingdon PCT has implemented a number of initiatives designed to improve patient experience such as increasing patients’ access to GPs through extended opening hours at some practices, introducing an online appointment booking system, improving information sharing between different agencies involved in delivering patient centred healthcare by creating Health Information Exchange systems which enable quick and efficient information exchange amongst different organisations.

In addition they have recently launched their “Primary Care Resilience Programme” which focuses on preventing ill-health by promoting healthy lifestyle choices among those most vulnerable members within the community. This programme aims at reducing inequalities in health outcomes by addressing known risk factors associated with poverty such as poor nutrition or lack physical activity. They also have plans for further improvements around patient safety including safer prescribing initiatives amongst others
