Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is a National Health Service (NHS) trust in the West Midlands, England. It provides acute hospital services and community health services to people living in Walsall and surrounding areas.

The trust was established in 1994, following the merger of Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust with Walsall Community Health Care NHS Trust. It is one of the largest employers in the borough, with around 5,000 staff members providing care to over 300,000 patients each year. The trust runs three main hospitals: Manor Hospital, Midland Eye Centre and Aldridge Road Hospital. In addition to these sites it also provides a range of community health services including district nursing, health visiting and school nursing as well as mental health services for adults and children across Walsall borough.

The trust has achieved several awards for its work including an 'excellent' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for its overall performance; being awarded ‘outstanding’ ratings by CQC for its end-of-life care; achieving a 'good' rating from CQC for its emergency department; being named one of Britain's top performing trusts by The King's Fund; receiving two Queen's Awards for Enterprise Innovation & Sustainable Development; winning two HSJ Awards; being recognised as one of only five trusts nationally to achieve an outstanding rating from Ofsted on their Children & Young People Mental Health Services inspection report; achieving Investors In People Silver Award status and winning numerous other awards related to quality improvement initiatives such as patient safety initiatives.

In recent years the trust has invested heavily in improving patient experience by introducing new technologies such as digital x-ray systems which reduce waiting times and improve accuracy of diagnosis while also introducing innovative methods such as virtual wards which allow patients to receive remote monitoring at home instead of having to attend hospital appointments unnecessarily.


The trust is committed to providing high quality healthcare that meets local needs while ensuring value for money through effective use of resources available. It works closely with partners across the region including local authorities, universities and voluntary organisations so that it can provide integrated care solutions that meet local needs whilst delivering improved outcomes for patients at lower costs than traditional models would allow
