South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a National Health Service (NHS) foundation trust in the North East of England. It is responsible for providing healthcare services to the local community of Teesside, which includes Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and parts of North Yorkshire. The Trust runs two hospitals: The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.

The Trust was established in April 2002, when it took over responsibility from the South Tees Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Since then, it has grown to become one of the largest trusts in England, providing care to over 1 million people across its catchment area.

The Trust offers a range of specialist services including cancer treatment, cardiology and vascular surgery, critical care, emergency medicine and trauma surgery. It also provides primary care services such as family planning, health visiting and sexual health clinics. In addition to its hospital-based services, South Tees also provides community-based care such as district nursing and home visits.

The Trust works closely with local GP practices to ensure that patients receive the best possible care within their own communities. As part of this commitment to delivering quality healthcare, the Trust has developed an innovative approach called ‘integrated care’ which brings together different aspects of a patient’s care into one joined up system. This means that patients can access a range of services from one place – making it easier for them to get all the help they need at one time.
