Sandbed Cottage nestles at the foot of the slopes of Harter Fell, part of the spectacular Howgills, with stunning limestone pavements on the other side of the dale just a short way away. These little known hills and fells are a paradise for walkers, horse riders or mountain bikers, with easy access to open fell. Sandbed Cottage is ideal for a good strenuous walk or ride up breathtaking Wild Boar Fell or a gentler meander along a valley bottom where your only companions are likely to be free roaming fell ponies, sheep and pheasant. Whichever you choose, the scenery is delightful with buzzards and the call of the curlew the only sounds to be heard. If you are lucky you may spot one of the area's wild deer or red squirrels.
