The Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is a provider of specialist mental health services in the United Kingdom. The Trust was formed in 2006 following the merger of two separate trusts: Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Care NHS Trust (AWMHC) and North Bristol NHS Trust. The merger created an organisation that could provide more comprehensive services to those with mental health needs across a larger geographic area than either of its predecessors had been able to do alone. The trust is committed to providing high-quality care for patients by providing access to a wide range of services including crisis resolution teams, community-based support teams, specialist rehabilitation teams and early intervention services. In addition it offers specialist therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). In order to ensure that the best possible care is delivered at all times the trust has developed strong partnerships with other local organisations including GPs, social care providers and voluntary sector groups. It also works closely with universities such as UWE Bristol to ensure staff are highly trained in best practice methods so they can provide the highest quality service possible.
