About Swansea Grand Theatre
Swansea Grand Theatre was opened in 1897, by Opera Diva Madame Adelina Patti.
The Grand has established itself as a venue for the best touring companies and star names of the time. The City and County of Swansea owns, manages and funds the building today.
In any one year around 400 performances take place in the main auditorium and 200 performances in the Arts Wing. It has a vast and varied diary of events to suit every taste, from big West End productions to amateur shows. Average attendances at the theatre are 300,000 per year.
A range of non-auditorium activities are also provided, including a Theatre Arts School, providing tutoring in dance, drama and voice, along with exhibitions, social functions and bar and restaurant facilities.
