About Adam Phillip's Violin

Based in Eastbourne and hailing from the Grampian Highlands, I am a highly regarded Violin, Viola and Celtic fiddle tutor whose students' come from all walks of Life. Some are teachers themselves and have perhaps played an instrument in the past, others are absolute beginners and have taken the violin up to develop their creative life and expand their social circle. All of my students' have benefited from my teaching methods and many have attained high pass levels in examinations. I integrate a person-centred and reflective approach in my teaching. This has proven to raise students' self-awareness and therefore their self-esteem. I am an accomplished classical, Celtic fiddle, rock and improvisatory Violin performer. I have my own unique method which also contains the best of Suzuki and colour strings. I also utilise mindfulness and reflective technique. This aims to raise students' confidence in lessons by increasing their awareness of playing. It is a person-centred approach with a strong emphasis on fun, delivered in a kind and gentle manner. I place a strong emphasis on warm up exercises, good posture, relaxation and a supple but powerful bowing arm. Many of my students will tell you that I encourage them to practice on open strings with an emphasis on creating a musical line through a highly developed legato technique. They will also explain to you that very slow scale practice is paramount for developing good intonation and a firm yet warm tone. I am very pleased to announce that I am one of only a small number of tutors to provide Skype lessons to students who require such a service. I have a number of clients including actors, business and professional people who are on the move that benefit from this type of lesson. The lessons I provide are a collaboration between myself and the learner. By using this approach the learner is quickly put at ease and the balance of power is nicely and evenly distributed. As a tutor, I like to think of myself as a guide and as an equal player to the student. Patient Qualified tutor Friendly home environment at no extra cost Access to a recording studio Can travel to towns and villages in Sussex and Kent No need to read music before starting lessons A very reasonable instrument rental and purchasing scheme Electric Violin/ Celtic and crossover fiddle Music theory /aural and basic composition classes £25 per hour, £20 per 45 minutes, £15 per 30 minutes
