The Hammer & Tongs menu is centred around the traditional South African barbecue, known as a braai. Imported Sekelbos wood from Namibia is used to smoke the beef, pork, chicken and fish dishes, with delicacies including spiced pork belly skewers with Granny Smith apple and cider compote, and boerewors beef sausage served with homemade chutney. The restaurant also bakes its own beer bread, and features a selection of gourmet salads for non meat eaters.
Sunday roasts at Hammer & Tongs in Farringdon are given a South African twist, with spatchcock chicken served with pork and peppadew stuffing, and all the trimmings. For pudding there are exotic sweet treats like chilli grilled pineapple with ginger ice cream and toasted coconut, while the bar mixes up all kinds of signature cocktails.
