South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS trust that provides a range of healthcare services to the people of South Tyneside, England. The trust was established in April 2004 and is responsible for providing hospital care at South Tyneside District Hospital, community health services across the borough, mental health services through Tyneview Park Mental Health Unit and primary care services through its GP practices.

The trust employs over 5,000 staff and serves a population of around 150,000 people in South Tyneside. It has an annual budget of £450 million which it uses to provide high quality healthcare to patients. The trust has been rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) since 2018 and continues to strive towards providing excellent patient-centred care.

In addition to its core healthcare provision, the trust also runs several innovative programmes such as social prescribing initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing in communities; supporting individuals with learning disabilities; developing integrated approaches to diabetes management; delivering end-of-life care training for professionals; and running specialised cancer treatment clinics.

The trust also works closely with local universities on research projects into areas such as dementia diagnosis, treatments for heart failure and stroke prevention. This work helps ensure that patients have access to cutting edge treatments as well as being able to benefit from new advances in medical science more quickly than would otherwise be possible.
