The Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust (MSFT) is a health care provider in the United Kingdom. It provides acute and community services to people living in Staffordshire, Shropshire and South Cheshire. MSFT is one of the largest NHS trusts in England, with a budget of £600 million and over 6,000 staff members.

MSFT was established in April 2006, following the merger of Staffordshire Hospital Services NHS Trust and South Staffordshire Healthcare NHS Trust. It is responsible for the provision of hospital and community services across a wide area, including Cannock Chase, Stafford, Tamworth and East Staffordshire. The trust also runs a number of specialist services, such as an integrated musculoskeletal service, a child and adolescent mental health service and a range of learning disability services.

The trust has faced several challenges in recent years. In 2013, it was placed in special measures by the Care Quality Commission after concerns were raised about its quality of care. Since then, the trust has implemented a number of changes, including the introduction of an improvement plan, additional training and improved governance structures.

Despite these improvements, the trust continues to face challenges. In 2015, it was issued with a financial notice to improve by NHS Improvement due to its poor financial performance. The trust is also working to address ongoing issues with staffing levels and the quality of care.

In 2017, the trust achieved Foundation Trust status, which enabled it to become more independent and accountable to local people. This was seen as a major milestone in the trust’s journey towards providing high quality, safe and effective care.

The trust is committed to continuing its journey of improvement, and is working to ensure that all patients receive the best possible care. It is also investing in new technology, such as electronic patient records, to help improve patient care and safety.
