Barnet Primary Care Trust (PCT) was a National Health Service (NHS) body in England that existed from 2002-2013. It was responsible for commissioning health services for the London Borough of Barnet and surrounding areas, with a population of over 300,000 people. The PCT was established as part of the government's NHS reforms in 2002, taking on the responsibility of providing and commissioning healthcare services from the former North West London Health Authority. It was also responsible for managing local hospitals and community services provided by Barnet General Hospital and Edgware Community Hospital. As part of its responsibilities, Barnet PCT developed strategies to improve access to healthcare services in the borough. This included developing an integrated urgent care service to reduce pressure on A&E departments, improving mental health services, introducing an online booking system for appointments, and creating closer links between social care and health services. In 2013, Barnet PCT ceased operations and its responsibilities were taken up by the North Central London Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The CCG is made up of eight local GP practices who are responsible for commissioning healthcare services in Barnet and neighbouring boroughs.
